Live the Camden life
As such a large borough which stretches right from Central London out towards the leafy suburbs of Hampstead and Highgate, Camden can deliver on lots of different requirements. And if it’s a new property you’re after, don’t miss our Low Deposit Schemes in London, with Deposit Unlock or Deposit Boost.
Things to see and do in Camden
The southern part of Camden is home to some of London’s best cultural draws, not least the spectacular British Museum. Galleries and museums such as the Charles Dickens Museum, Sir John Soane’s Museum and the Foundling Museum abound, while Regent’s Park provides a charming green space on the south west border.
Primrose Hill and Camden Town with its famous markets are close to the park, while Hampstead Heath is the crowning glory of the borough’s north. A superb spot to go for a stroll or a dip in one of the bathing ponds, you can also make the most of its kids’ playgrounds and sports facilities.
Education
There are lots of great schools right across Camden, with top choices for younger children in the south including Christopher Hatton Primary and St George the Martyr CofE. Both of these schools are rated as outstanding by Ofsted, along with Kentish Town CofE and Gospel Oak Primary.
The Camden School for Girls is one of the best secondaries in the borough. Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School is in Ofsted’s highest band too, while Haverstock School, William Ellis School and Regent High School are further strong options.
Camden transport links
The local council has promoted walking and cycling over owning a car in recent years, and whether you’re in the north or south, Camden is certainly well suited to this. There are plenty of Tube stations across the borough when you need to use public transport, covering the Central, Circle, Hammersmith & City, Jubilee, Metropolitan, Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria lines. You can also use a selection of Overground and train stations to get around, as well as an array of bus routes.
The Camden property scene
Camden offers so much to so many different types of people and with such vast appeal, it’s no surprise property prices have soared in recent years. From its famous pastel-coloured terraces to period conversions in Camden Town and large family homes in the Hampstead area, prices are around double the London average.
If this means Camden is out of reach then look out for more affordable properties in places like Acton, where you can find beautiful new apartments along Western Avenue for a fraction of the price you’d expect in Camden. And for some extra help, don’t miss offers such as our Movemaker scheme, where we could pay your estate agent fees for you when you sell your existing home.
