Leading housebuilder Barratt Homes has donated a collection of bird feeders and fat balls to Tynsel Parkes CE Primary Academy in Uttoxeter to help the school care for birds following National Nestbox Week.

The five star developer has donated a collection of nest boxes and birdfeeders for the school to install and use to educate its pupils on how best to support local birds.

Events such as the Big Schools Bird Watch in January and National Nestbox Week in February encourage pupils to celebrate local biodiversity and learn about the needs of the local wildlife in their area.

Mrs Rachel Chandler, Principal at Tynsel Parkes CE Primary Academy, said: “The academy would like to thank Barratt Homes for the lovely bird feeders and nest boxes that have been very kindly donated.

The hope is that we will now be able to create more wildlife habitats within our school grounds and the children will have the opportunity to see and learn more about the wildlife that lives in and around our school.

Students at the school in Uttoxeter were delighted to receive the donation, as it will help to assist the wildlife in the area and give pupils the opportunity to observe and learn about the environment from the safety of the school grounds.

Tanya Silk, Sales Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “As a leading developer it is really important that we support the communities in the areas we build.

Tynsel Parkes CE Primary Academy is working hard to support its pupils both in and out of the classroom, and we are happy to support them in providing donations for local wildlife.
