Spirited, diverse and constantly evolving, Sheffield is a brilliant place to live if you love a good night out. Whether you’re heading in for the evening from a nearby town such as Barnsley or Rotherham, catching a quick cab from the outskirts or walking from your city centre pad, there are plenty of exciting places to visit on your tour of the best nightlife Sheffield has to offer.
As the city centre is nice and
compact, it’s easy to explore a number of different places when you’re out for
the night. The parallel West Street and Division Street play host to an array
of top nightspots, along with adjoining arteries such as Carver Street and
Rockingham Street. So, pick out a great outfit, check your look in the mirror,
and start getting excited about discovering what makes the nightlife in
Sheffield so popular.
SOYO
This is a stylish late bar that successfully combines modern flair with the atmosphere served up by the old warehouse it’s housed in. Think colourful mood lighting hitting exposed brick walls and a strict door policy which attracts a fashionable urban crowd. There’s an extensive drinks menu to browse, while mainstream music playlists are finely tuned to get people on the dancefloor.
Dempseys
Found within Sheffield’s Gay Quarter
at the bottom of the Moor, Dempseys opened in 2000 and has been at the
heart of the city’s LGBT scene ever since. More of a relaxed bar during the
daytime where you can even enjoy a Sunday roast at the weekend, the pace
quickens as the evenings draw on. From cocktails to karaoke, Dempseys
is next door
to another great gay club, Queer Junction.
The Viper Rooms
One of the most instantly recognised
clubs around thanks to the iconic venue with a similar name in Hollywood, the
Viper Rooms is a contemporary nightclub which also puts on a weekly student
night. DJs play everything from indie music to house, while there’s a
comprehensive cocktail menu, VIP lounge and the chance to catch live acts too.
The Leadmill
If your idea of unmissable Sheffield
nightlife revolves around watching live music, the Leadmill is for you. As the
city that gave rise to iconic bands such as the Arctic Monkeys, Pulp and Def
Leppard, this venue is the place to go to check out the latest gigs.
Established in 1980, the Leadmill is the longest-running independent music venue
and nightclub in Sheffield.
Plug
Another haunt that’s been known to host some stellar musical acts over the years, Plug is perhaps more well known as a late-night club. With DJs spinning the tunes every night of the week, this is one of the biggest clubs in Sheffield. The 1,200-capacity hotspot has three rooms, allowing you to wander between different vibes and from live music to club tunes. Any night out in Sheffield can reveal the many sides to the city’s welcoming character. You can unearth this from your home in the heart of town, when travelling in from areas such as Barugh Green and Finningley, or when buying one of our new build properties in this part of Yorkshire.
